Connection
Connection: to engage fully in whatever I am doing and being fully present with others
Important to me because...in order to ensure that I get the most of any experience, big or small, I need to be in it. Trying to practice mindfulness/presence as much as possible will help to soak up moments and develop the memories. I want to make sure that I am giving the people and occasions I care about the attention they deserve. Focusing on connection through being present will ensure I experience all of it in real time.
Will be in my life through...practicing the Mindfulness skills I teach! I will make a better effort to use my knowledge in real life and place myself in the present moment. Some more tangible ways in which I will create connection in my life are being without my phone for experiences, being consistent with making plans with friends and reaching out to loved ones to check in.
Five ways to create connection in your life:
Keep track of birthdays and other special occasions so you can reach out to loved ones on important dates
Create “focus” times on your phone so you can engage without disruptions
Use your five senses to ground yourself into the present moment
Practice active listening and ask questions to show your interest in others
Create rituals with people you live that create the routine of connection
